Mectex Founder Carlo Fassi produced the world’s first elastic fabric in 1956. Elastic threads did not yet exist but the crossing of threads in double and false twists succeeded in giving elasticity to what until then had been only rigid outputs.
The newly formed Italian mill's patented Superbiflex fabric went on to become the official fabric of the National Ski Teams of Italy, Austria and Germany in the 1972 Olympics and after successful field testing by an expedition to the Himalayas (both clothing and wall tents), large scale production of Mectex performance fabrics began.
The MicroStop Shell series is built for all seasons wear. Light enough and tough enough for most conditions, these classic cut garments are tailored without being slim. Clean lines, quality components, and subtle details round out a work horse layering option. Woven in Italy, cut and sewn in New York.
